A Wife's Prayer for Her Husband

This beautiful and moving techina, the Wife's Prayer for her Husband, recited by women for generations, is found in the sefer HaTachinot and HaBakashot. A delicate vine with leaves surrounds the prayer, highlighted by two doves facing each other in the lower right hand corner. They represent husband and wife. Gold gouache is hand applied in the corners of the text and the title of the piece is hand calligraphied along the bottom. An English translation is affixed to the back of the artwork.

The work is called a semi-reproduction. After Moshe completes the original piece entirely by hand, he reproduces the paper cut by laser. Then, he hand-details each piece. The bottom text and gold gouache are hand executed, as is the hanging of the handmade colored paper behind the papercut. The background paper and the hand detailing are the same as in the original. Each piece is signed and numbered. The reproduction is therefore of a very high quality. 13"x13"

Price: $120 (Unframed)

English Translation of Text

May it be Your will Hashem, my G-d and G-d of my forefathers, G-d of Avraham, G-d of Yitzchak and G-d of Yaakov, that you continuously guard, watch and protect my husband from all injury and from all calamity and from all sickness. And give him a good life, a healthy life, a life of wealth and honor. And give us upstanding offspring and respectable righteous children. And always plant among us love, brotherhood, peace and companionship.

And establish in our hearts to love and fear You and to do Your will and to serve You with a complete heart like proper Jews. And to behave with justice and kindness with Your nation, Israel.

And bless my husband with a complete blessing full of strength and peace. As it says, "May Hashem bless you and safeguard you. May Hashem illuminate His countenance to you and be gracious to you. May Hashem turn His countenance toward you and establish peace for you. As it says, "Hashem will preserve him and restore him to life, and he will be happy in the land." Amen, so may it be Your will.
